Frequently Asked Questions

  • Individual psychotherapy sessions are between $100-$250, depending on the clinician you work with.

We do offer limited sliding scale spots for those experiencing financial hardship. Contact us to discuss sliding scale options.

  • Like most speciality providers, we do not participate in insurance plans directly.

Unlike most specialty providers, we simplify the process by checking your benefits beforehand and offering to handle insurance reimbursement on your behalf. In our experience, reimbursement rates are generally between 60-80% of the session costs after your deductible is met.

We also give you the option of only paying your out-of-network copay instead of paying the full fee upfront for a 5% fee, which goes directly to our reimbursement processing servicer.

Here are some additional questions to ask your insurance provider:

    • Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible?

    • How much of my deductible has been met this year?

    • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out of network?

    • How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

    • How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?

  • Debbie serves those located in New York, New Jersey, or Florida at the time of the session.

Other staff therapists are only able to serve those located in New York at this time.

  • Associate therapists are either completing their degrees or working toward their hours for independent licensure. These clinicians work under the supervision of a fully-licensed mental health practitioner.

Associate therapists are supervised by Debbie Missud, LMHC.

As associate therapists are still in training, they work for a reduced rate of $100-$170/session (depending on level of experience) For those experiencing financial hardship, sliding scale options with associate therapists are available. Contact Debbie to discuss this further.

  • Get started by booking a free 15-minute intro call with our Clinical Director, Debbie here.

The purpose of this consultation call is to determine if there's a therapist on our team who is a good fit for you. You'll be able to go over what's bringing you into therapy, ask any questions, verify your benefits, and get an outline of logistics and next steps should a mutual fit be determined. If we determine that we’re not a fit, you will receive referrals to providers who are better suited to meet your needs.

  • In the first few sessions of therapy generally entail getting asked a bunch of questions to get a better understanding of your history and what makes you you. You’ll then collaboratively set goals and your therapist will present you with a treatment plan.

  • The short answer is it depends.

Some clients get what they need in 3-6 months. Others want to focus on new goals upon reaching their initial ones. Some people choose to stay in therapy long-term as a place to process week-to-week events.

Therapy is an incredibly individual process. Whenever you feel like you’ve gotten all you need, we’ll discuss wrapping up.

  • Research suggests that the more consistently you meet with your therapist at the beginning of treatment, the better your outcome is. I request a commitment to weekly therapy for the first 8 weeks of treatment.

Depending on progress and need, we may increase the frequency of sessions to twice weekly, or reduce it to biweekly.

  • We request 48-hours’ notice for non-emergent cancellations. Non-emergent cancellations within 48 hours are subject to the full session rate.

The short-notice cancellation fee will be waived in the event of emergency or illness, and everyone gets “one free pass.”

  • We are available for both in-person and remote sessions.

In person sessions will be held in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Remote sessions are conducted using a HIPAA-compliant video platform called Doxy.

  • Our therapeutic style is much more active and solutions-focused. We will listen to you when you need to vent, and we will also provide you with a myriad of evidence-based tools centered around your needs.
