Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback, is a non-invasive treatment focused on regulating your brain wave activity. Dysregulated brain waves can contribute to symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, dissociation, and other cognitive deficits.

During a neurofeedback session, you have a cap on your head with 19 electrodes measuring brain activity. You may be watching a video, sitting with your eyes closed listening to audio, or playing a video game. You will receive real-time feedback into your brain activity, receiving “rewards” such as greater video/audio quality or enhancements in a game, reinforcing the desired brain waves.

Over time, your brain learns to maintain the regulated brain waves outside of neurofeedback sessions.

Neurofeedback sessions are recommended 1-3 times per week for about 12 weeks. A diagnostic qEEG must be conducted prior to neurofeedback in order to pinpoint which areas of the brain are dysregulated.

If you are experiencing cognitive deficits from your symptoms, you may benefit from neurofeedback. Contact me for a free 15-minute consultation to see if neurofeedback is right for you.
